Geographical position
The Kursk district is located in the center of the region, along the perimeter of the city of Kursk, borders in the north on the Fatezhsky and Zolotukhinsky districts, in the east on the Shchigrovsky and Solntsevsky districts, in the south on the Medvehsky district, in the west on the Oktyabrsky district.
The territory of the district covers 1.6 thousand square km, or 5.4% of the territory of the region. The surface represents an elevated plateau with a highly wavy relief, with the prevalence of prone lands intersected by ravines and beams.
All the railways and motorways, electric power lines, pipelines leading to the city of Kursk, as well as a bypass road, go through the territory of the district.
On the territory of the region there are several rivers. The most significant of them are the Seim,with a length of 67 km in the district, the Tuskar 32 km long, and other rivers, with a total length of 139 km, all belonging to the Dnieper Basin.

Geographical position
The Medvensky district was founded in 1970. It is located in the central part of the Kursk Region, and borders on the Bolshelsoldatsky, Oktyabrsky, Solntsevsky, Pristensky and Kursk districts. The territory is 1.1 thousand square kilometers. The length of the area from the east to west is 53 km, from the north of the district center (Medvenka settlement) is 28 km, to the regional center — 36 km. Moscow-Kharkov highway passes through the territory of the district.
The surface is a hilly plain, cut by beams and ravines. The rivers of the district are the Reut, the length in the territory of the district is 48 km, the total length is 30 km, the Mladad, the Reutets, the Lubach — 16 km, the Medvenka — 13 km. All the rivers belong to the Dnieper system.

Geographical position
The Oboyan district was founded in 1928. It is located in the southern part of the Kursk Region. It borders on the Medven, Pristensk, Bolshesoldatsky and Belovo districts of the region, as well as on the Ivniansky district of the Belgorod region.
The territory is 1.02 thousand square km., which is 4% of the region, the surface is a hilly plain, cut by rivers and ravines, the rivers are shallow. The Psel River has a length of 54 km, the Rybinka — 28km, the Malaya Rybinka — 17km, the Kamenka — 18km, the Turovka — 17km, the Uslanka — 15km. All the rivers belong to the Dnieper Basin.

The Belovsky region, located in the south-western part of the Kursk Region, was founded in 1965. The region is black earth and is a supplier of agricultural products.

Geographical position
The Bolshelsoldatsky district in the modern borders was restored on March 23, 1977 and is located in the south-western part of the Kursk Region and borders as follows: in the north on the Lgovsky and Kurchatov, in the east on the Oktyabrsky, Medvensky and Oboyansky, in the south on the Belovsky and in the west on the Sujan districts of the region.

The Kurchatov district is located in the central part of the Kursk Region. The Rylsky District was founded in 1928. It is located in the western part of the region, borders on the Khomutovsky, Lgov, Korenevsky, Glushkovsky districts and Ukraine.
The territory of the district is 1.5 thousand square km, or 5.0% of the region’s territory.
The terrain is uneven, heavily riddled by ravines and beams with different directions of slopes. The most elevated part of the district is in the north-west, the surface is gradually decreasing to the east and south.
In the region there are the following rivers: the Seym, the length on the territory is 83 km, the Obesta is 52 km, the Amonka is 35 km, the Rylo is 21 km, the Kleven is 42 km, the Kamenka is14 km, the Krupets is 10 km long. All the rivers belong to the Dnieper system.

It borders on the Cheremisinovsky district in the north,on the Manturovsky district in the south, from the north-west to south-west the border passes along the Shchigrovsky and Solntsevsky districts, from the north-east to the southeast along the Soviet and Gorshechensky districts of the Kursk Region. The administrative, industrial, economic and cultural center is the urban settlement of Tim, located 65 km from the regional center, 35 km from the Shchigry railway station.

Geographical position
In its present borders, the Cheremisinovsky region is located in the center of the East European Plain on the slopes of the Central Russian Upland within the forest-steppe zone. It is located in the northeastern part of the region and borders on the Shchigrovsky, Timsky, Soviet districts and the Orel region.
The territory is 0.8 thousand square km or 2.7% of the territory of the region. The length from the west to the east is 32 km, and from the north to the south — 37 km. The area of agricultural land is 74,634 hectares including arable land of 63,011 hectares.
The center of the district is the workmen’s settlement of Cheremisinovo. The distance to Kursk by rail is 86 km, by the highway — 88 km. The characteristic feature of the terrain of the region is a great number of the river valleys, beams, tops, ravines. The watershed ridge, which influences the river valleys of the region, is the Timsko-Shchigrovsky ridge. At its foot start the rivers which flow through the territory of the Cheremisinovsky district, they all flow into the Tim River, which is a tributary of the Sosna River. The total length of the rivers (Tim, Kosorzha, Shchigor) is 91 km. They are all shallow and refer to the Don Basin.

The Kursk district is located in the center of the region, along the perimeter of the city of Kursk, borders in the north on the Fatezhsky and Zolotukhinsky districts, in the east on the Shchigrovsky and Solntsevsky districts, in the south on the Medvehsky district, in the west on the Oktyabrsky district.

The Shchigrovsky district was founded in 1928. It is located in the north-eastern part of the Kursk Region, which is situated in the European part of the Russian Federation and is an integral part of the Central Black Earth Region. The district borders on the Cheremisinovsky, Timsky, Solntsevsky, Zolotukhinsky, Kursk districts of the Kursk Region and the Konoplyansky district of the Oryol region.

The Solntsevsky district is located in the south-eastern part of the Kursk Region. It was formed on June 16, 1928. It is a black earth region and is a supplier of agricultural products. It borders on the Shchigrovsky and Timsky districts in the north, on the Pristenskiy district in the south; on the Manturovsky in the east; on the Kursk and Medvensky districts in the west.

The Timsky district is part of the eastern group of administrative districts. It borders on the Cheremisinovsky district in the north,on the Manturovsky district in the south, from the north-west to south-west the border passes along the Shchigrovsky and Solntsevsky districts, from the north-east to the southeast along the Soviet and Gorshechensky districts of the Kursk Region. The administrative, industrial, economic and cultural center is the urban settlement of Tim, located 65 km from the regional center, 35 km from the Shchigry railway station.

Geographical position
In its present borders, the Cheremisinovsky region is located in the center of the East European Plain on the slopes of the Central Russian Upland within the forest-steppe zone. It is located in the northeastern part of the region and borders on the Shchigrovsky, Timsky, Soviet districts and the Orel region.
The territory is 0.8 thousand square km or 2.7% of the territory of the region. The length from the west to the east is 32 km, and from the north to the south — 37 km. The area of agricultural land is 74,634 hectares including arable land of 63,011 hectares.
The center of the district is the workmen’s settlement of Cheremisinovo. The distance to Kursk by rail is 86 km, by the highway — 88 km. The characteristic feature of the terrain of the region is a great number of the river valleys, beams, tops, ravines. The watershed ridge, which influences the river valleys of the region, is the Timsko-Shchigrovsky ridge. At its foot start the rivers which flow through the territory of the Cheremisinovsky district, they all flow into the Tim River, which is a tributary of the Sosna River. The total length of the rivers (Tim, Kosorzha, Shchigor) is 91 km. They are all shallow and refer to the Don Basin.
